Dropping sugar and white bread should benefit you as opposed to eating the SAD diet! 🧞 Spike, plummet, spike, plummet is kicking the can down the road and can be dangerous 🧞 Post prandial readings will identify insulin resistance!

    1. How long have u been zero sugar? You still need to work at getting it down imo. But congrats – 5 7 is pretty good. I’m in the same boat somewhat. I’m keto though.

  2. Hi Dennis thank you beat diabetes and drive the message to beat this monster far away and have a good A1c below 5 from Johannesburg South Africa 🇿🇦👍💯

  3. I’m a t1 diabetic and follow a dr Bernstein (also a t1) diet. The two high carb vegan phd guys are super super low fat vegans and that’s absolutely the key that’s missing in the letter. The sugar from high carb eating is what the body uses for fuel instead of the fat that’s used in keto or carnivore. Eating the high carb WITH fat is the problem. The high carb no fat vegan does “work” BUT, there’s a major issue with it:
Problem is sadly, the inevitable muscle loss in their diet. You can visibly see in Mastering Diabeyes that these two young men imo look much older than they are and are quite skinny and pale. It’s sad.
It’s true in theory that my blood sugars were ok following that way of eating but wow, it was tough to do! My skin looked horrendous and the constant washing, cutting, shopping, labor intensive vegan diet was unreal. They advocate virtually NO fat or healthy protein, and the results are clearly seen in their faces and arms. Their a1c is good (in the 5s) but there’s the lack of muscle, good color, and overall health side to this. Wondering if their hormone numbers are ok. Healthy fats are vital. Just sad.

  4. Indeed it is kicking the can in front of you. And it is not only about the spikes, but also about the numerous other benefits you get when eating low carb. They never mention that and yes, I believe some of them are just lying.

  5. I gad another A1C test yesterday and I’m at a 5.0. I do wear a CGM most of the time, and while I’ve seen a big difference in my insulin sensitivity, I can still see a spike like when I mistakenly have a bit too many caramelized veggies or something else that might be a bit much in the carb department. We are not talking a terrible spike, but over 120 to 130 which is something I try to avoid. Since testing after diagnosis and even when my sensitivity was not as good as it is now, my spikes never last long. If I hit 125 it starts to come down within 30 minutes, and most of the time less than that so I know just counting on my A1C would not be enough to count on where I want my health to be.

  6. every one has there own body different then others. look at your wife, she can eat anything and her blood sugar will down fast will your will go down slow. also that fruit cards are different then bread carbs. i agree with you, check with a glucose monitor. i use a freestyle libre, and is free for Medicare (not the Medicare advantage you see in TV. ) you will see a fast rise on eating a fruit (simple carbs)but it will drop. but eat more then one, it will stay high a long time. its like starting a BBQ. you put starting fluid a little will spike the fire up then down. pour a lot of it and it will stay high a long time. but complex carbs like bread , it will not bring you sugar high fast but it will go hgh and stay high a long time. think of a log in the BBQ. once is hot its stay hot. I know this because i do test it. i do eat meats but not what i use to. but if i eat bread, i will eat more meat. my son sometime buy me a big mac because he both ate it together. before. i not huger but take a bite and now ill eat the whole thing and what more. the bread make me hungry fruit don’t. my advise, eat a fruit like apple or banana. check yourself. if the index goes over, then next time eat a halve and test it. you be surprise.

  7. Good morning!. You should know that they are both type one diabetics. So I’m not sure exactly how that works and whether they’re still on Internet, I think they probably are so if you’re looking at their charts, that could be a factor?
