I can’t afford any meds or doctors, so I started intermittent fasting 2 months ago and all my type-2 symptoms are gone.
Down 4 holes in my waist belt and my cost of living is next to nothing, less trips to the store etc etc.
Only took me 2 years to finally try it LOL, thanks Jason.

  • Azalea says:

When you know better, you do better. Doctors included. Thank you, Dr. Fung, for continuing to share this information.

  • Cold Lake Advanced Clinical Massage says:

After reading most (all) of your books, and more, I started fasting 36 hours every other day, beginning 2023 September 01. A bit later, I started 60 hour fasts every 3 days. I’m currently on a 6 day fast, ending tomorrow. As of this morning (2023 November 03, 2 months later), I’ve lost 32 lbs from 250, my body fat went from just under 30% to just over 25%, and my waist went from49.5″ to 40.5″. My A1C came down (before I started) from 8 to 6.5 (for most of this year), while taking 2.5 (max dose) Ozempic weekly, Forxiga, and 20-25 units of fast acting insulin 3x/day. I cut the Ozempic and Forxiga cold turkey, and weaned the insulin within a few weeks. At first, I would spike and drastically drop (crash) with even 10 units of insulin for one or two meals (2 meals a day for eating days), so I stopped insulin completely. This is the first time I was able to stay within range (3.9-10) blood glucose 100% of the time for many days at a time. However, lately (even day 5 of 6 day fast), it’s been very difficult to keep blood glucose within range. Also, I occasionally use keto strips to monitor ketosis, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. Granted, my fasting is not perfect (I eat a few nuts or chips once a day of fasting to to take with a couple meds. I expected to be in ketosis by day 2 of fasting easily, but it’s not happening. Why might that be? Despite these 2 concerns (blood glucose levels, ketosis), I’m very happy with what I’m seeing and feeling.

    • P says:

Sounds great. Congratulations! What are you esting on your eating days? May be the reson youΒ΄re not in ketosis. Are you keeping your meals keto? ItΒ΄s totally worth it. Even going carnivore coupled with fasting would help reverse diabetes even quicker.

    • Cold Lake Advanced Clinical Massage says:

@P Until now, eating days included bacon and eggs, protein drink, amino acid drink, maybe a salad, a “super foods” veggie powder drink, and high fat bran muffins. Starting tomorrow, I plan on temporarily ditching the salad and bacon and eggs. I’m hoping to be consistent in what I eat so I can better predict my weight loss. I do fasted workouts almost daily. Fluids include coffee/tea (no sweeteners), a trace mineral drink with a bit of flavoring from one of those tiny squeeze bottles. It seems to me that, even with the small amount of nuts/chips/crackers (just enough to swallow a few pills – I can’t drink them down) would not be enough to maintain high blood glucose, especially on the 2nd day of a fast.

    • Daniel Duedu says:

@Cold Lake Advanced Clinical MassageI would rather you maintain the eggs, and salad and inculcate liver in your diet routine. Ideally vegetables should be chewed since it contains the fiber rather than in powder or blended. Add more fermented food to your diet and probiotic yogurt for your gut biome, stay healthy.

    • Albert Wong says:

try keto coffee, my version is 1 cup of black coffee, 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of butter, 1 teaspoon of whipping cream blend it up until frothy. Do not add sweetener. Helps dull the hunger depression.

    • Cold Lake Advanced Clinical Massage says:

@Daniel Duedu Thanks, I appreciate the advice. (I’ve never had a problem with gut bacteria, and when I tried probiotic anyway, I ended up with an upset stomach!)

  • Lanie Sider says:

Dr Jason Fung has the best explanation for intermittent fasting and how to reverse diabetes. Thank you Dr Fung

  • Rhiahl says:

All I hear in my diabetes group is you should eat 4 – 6 small meals and eat to keep your blood sugar level. Which of course keeps insulin active in the body. I managed to reverse mine in three months completely doing one meal a day. It’s crazy what these doctors, dietitians and quite frankly the American Diabetes Association is telling Type 2 diabetics.

    • G CS says:

The medical profession is like the tobacco industry … they want you hooked on their meds , surgeries and treatments and not about healing

    • Rhiahl says:

@G CSI don’t even think it’s that. What kickbacks does a dietitian get? I think they are just just too damn lazy to keep up with new treatments and discoveries.

    • Will Hathaway says:

The 6 small meals philosophy was what I was told back in the 80’s. It’s what was believed to be best. The great thing about fasting, especially one meal a day, is that it basically doesn’t matter what you eat for that meal. You don’t have to worry about what you can and can’t have. Give yourself a time limit, usually 1 to 2 hours, to eat what you want then shut off the intake until 22 or so hours later. This is literally life changing.

  • daedal says:

Dr. Jason Fung is a true man of medicine. If only people understood the power of fasting, the world would be a much healthier place.

  • Mark Horn says:

Thanks to Dr. Fung I lost 80 lbs over 8 months. I eventually got up to multi-week prolonged fasting. Twice I fasted for thirty days and have never felt better in my life. There are so many benefits. I have the freedom to eat when I want and not because I think I have to. I can play with my diet and always have a tool to reset and get back to where I’d like to be before I experiment again. I can buy nicer clothes because my weight will be stable for the rest of my life now that I know how to fast. Thank you Dr. Fung.

  • TorBoy9 says:

That explanation of intermittent fasting was as clear and concise as it gets. Great presentation! I’ve been doing 18/6 for 5 years and it really works well. I even strength train at the end of my fast, all without any ill effects.

  • Peter Beyer says:

❀❀❀Dr Fung should have received a standing 10 minute ovation with flowers being thrown at him at the start of his lecture! He has saved thousands of people from amputation, blindness and a slow agonising death.❀❀❀

  • sdraper2011 says:

Excellent and rational advice from Dr. Fung, as always. He has saved my cousin’s life. She was heading for obesity. I sent her several of Dr. Fung’s videos. She decided to give IF a try. She has dropped 80 lbs since the beginning of the year. She does an 84-hr fast every month. She is nearly back to a healthy weight. I bet Dr. Fung has saved thousands and thousands of lives with his simple, practical, and easy to follow advice about IF.

  • Jennyshane Spitler says:
