the lots of different things is actually one thing. eat less
It’s really so much more nuanced than “eat less”.
@pjmiller3770eat at or a liitle below your bmr and exersize off ANY calories from carbohydrates…
Bodies adapt. Throw in a handful of maintenance days, then change it up. 36 hr water fast usually foes the trick for me. Everyone has to find their “go-to” plateau buster”.
I am having a super hard time deciding if I am at my goal weight or not.
Or maybe the plateau is your ideal weight. I don’t have fat to lose (about 22-25%) and as long as I stay low carb, high fat my weight stays at a good place and I feel good after losing 40-45 pounds 2 years ago. In the last year I am working to maintain or increase muscle strength, so maybe gaining a pound or two is a good thing.
The fasting schedule is only a tool to get into a calorie deficit. If you stall, it’s not because the schedule stopped working. It’s because you’re still eating too much within that schedule to keep losing weight.
In short, eating makes you fat and not eating makes you not fat. So, if you want to lose weight, do more “not eating” until the weight starts coming off.
It takes some experimentation to find the amount of calories you burn to maintain your weight. I was eating one meal a day and was gaining weight. I tracked my calories and found 1200 was my limit. If I wanted to lose weight I had to eat less. Recently I have been lifting heavy weights so now I can eat 1600 calories. Get an app and track EVERY calorie even the ones you want to hide. It works.
Thank you Dr. Fung, you are the “guilty spark” which ignited my journey to become a “Health Champion”, I have enjoyed two of your books and look forward to more from you. Best regards, Mississauga.
People are so FUNNY!!! Simply quit eating high calorie JUNK FOOD!! You could fast 23 hours a day and if you are eating the wrong thing, you will still gain weight and will remain unhealthy. LIMIT your calories to HEALTHY things and you will GUARANTEED lose weight.
Thank you for helping us ❤
How to ask a question ?

Your body adapted to low calories. There is option that you trick your body with 3 meals per day once per week.
With extended fasting body thinks that you are starving and preserve weight by lowering your metabolic rate.
