Voiceover is such an underrated creation hack. I make food and restaurant content, and I never wanted to be the type of creator that distracts during other peoples’ dining experiences, so I mostly film as B roll but then put the story together after. I would have stopped a long time ago without that style change.

Using Short Pocket Monsters format I was able to guarantee 1k views on each video. Rather than pokemon cards, I open Loot boxes in the game my channel focus is on, (escape from tarkov). I made my own jingle, graphics, ect. I’m still working on improving it with each video, but it is probably the best return on information I’ve had so far.

Hey Pat, I have a question. When you went live for 365 days straight what was your approach to thumbnails? Seems like a lot of thumbnails to create.
Not important for shorts, but for longs the thumbnail plan was to make it as easy and quick as possible, because that’s a lot of thumbnails. I tried a template that was the same for each video but it wasn’t working well for getting new views, so I switched to easy, bold templates on Canva and also reused ones and changed them slightly if they worked from before.
Thank you for the education I need ro help my channel grow. Im just getting started and this has helped me sooo much!!! Thank you for all of your gems that you have given to me and to those who are still learning.

I do digital marketing too, but honestly, it’s not my passion. I don’t really want to “talk about” conversion rates, funnel building, keyword research etc.
How did you come up with THE subniche inside of pokemon, to focus on? You could have done videos on the games, on VR, on art, on music…did you start with what you LIKED or did you randomly choose “collecting”?
I take it since your channel is “deep pockets”, there was some thought as to what subniche already.
I’m thinking of starting a youtube channel on my passion, and finding the subniche is looking to be tricky.

Thanks for the question! I didn’t start the channel first, I started to get involved in the community, participating in everything I could to get to know the crowd and who else was already a creator and YouTuber there, and what people liked, disliked, but also where I felt I could come in and add something new!
