TOP Peptide Doctor Warns Women Over 40 About These Weight Loss Peptides

Peptides for midlife health are suddenly everywhere, but do they actually work or are they just the newest longevity trend? In this episode, Chalene Johnson sits down with longevity expert Dr. Elizabeth Yurth to break down the growing buzz around peptides and what women over 40 should know before jumping in.
You’ve probably heard about GLP-1 medications, BPC-157, collagen peptides, and growth hormone peptides, all promising benefits for weight loss, inflammation, muscle recovery, and anti-aging. But with so many supplements, injections, and online sources popping up, it’s getting harder to tell what’s legitimate and what’s just hype.
Together, Chalene and Dr. Yurth unpack what peptides actually are, why they’re suddenly everywhere in the longevity world, and why many experts believe peptide levels change as we age.
They also discuss one of the biggest risks most people don’t realize until it’s too late: where peptides are coming from and why the source matters far more than most people think.
If you’ve been curious about peptides, GLP-1 medications, or longevity therapies for women over 40, this conversation will help you start asking the right questions before deciding whether they belong in your midlife health routine.

  1. Before watching this, how much did you already know about peptides?
    A. I had never even heard of them

    B. I’ve heard about them but didn’t understand them

    C. I’ve been researching them a lot lately

    D. I’m already using peptides

  2. I’m 61 yrs old heard of peptides. But never use peptides. Never heard my doctor even mentioned them.

  3. I force myself to eat 100 grams of protien plus drink my greens and reds ( micro veggies) and make sure to drink 6-7 full glasses of water eat in the morning fast for 16 hours and do my power station dead hangs and lift the Grandkids and walk

  4. I have heard the word peptides, I know absolutely nothing about them. I go to the gym 5X/week I focus, I listen to my music, I workout hard to see the results I need and want at my age level of 63. I don’t want to know anything about peptides and to be honest, I’m getting so sick and tired of all of the talking heads trying to pitch the next best thing when what works is the old school basics, eat right, exercise and get enough rest.

    1. Totally fair. The basics still matter most. Eating well, lifting, and getting good sleep will always be the foundation. Peptides are just another tool for some people, not a replacement for the things you’re already doing right.

    2. I eat right, exercise, sleep, but also have hypothyroidism and insulin resistance pcos. I lost 160lbs before ever starting a glp1 and was stuck. For over a decade I yo’yo’d up and down the same 50lbs 3x. My body wouldnt let go. When I gained 50 again pkus an extra 10 I reached out to my Dr and she prescribed Mounjaro. This was in 2022 when it first came out. I was still 100 pounds down and started losing. Lost the 60 gained and kept on. Finally my body was working how it should. My hormones were working. My insulin was regulated, my brain finally got the correct signals. So yeah many of us with severe metabolic disease and genetic predisposition need the extra help to put us on a level playing field if you will. I walk 4-5 miles a day and strength train 2.5 hours a week and I gained 8lbs of muscle.

Im still on Tirzepatide weekly and its been a godsend. After 30 years of Obesity I am free. It wasnt the easy way out, I still put in the hard work and still do every single day, my body is just working now as it should. Are there people taking glp1’s and abusing them? Yes, of course that happens with everything, but there are many like myself who actually need this because metabolic disease is real.m and we get judged. No one judges me for being on a thyroid medication for the rest of my life for my nonworking thyroid. No one should judge me for treating my metabolic disease taking a GLP1. It regulates my PCOS, my insulin resistance and my hormones. So glad this Dr knows her stuff and corrected Chalene when she said we lose weight on a glp1 because its just about eating less … so much misinformation out her… nope its not like the Dr said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    3. So why are you listening or commenting? Your comment screams ignorance of the metabolic struggles many people have. Not everyone is the same. Consider yourself lucky.

  5. I’m so glad you are addressing this. That is why I partnered with a company who uses a 503a pharmacy with a Dr. prescribing them and I’m just coaching the person with nutrition and fitness and any questions they have on peptides I direct them to the Dr. I have learned about peptides but I do not ever recommend anything and always direct them to the Dr. it’s so much safer that way.

  6. C. Been using peptides for a year now. While I understand there is a risk, the gray market is WAY more affordable even after you send it away for testing at a lab.

    1. same AND I im so sad my sciencepeptides site just closed down. made usa, and i dont knwo what happened ii dont know who to trust now

  7. I’m level 75 but feel more mentally as level 35!! Thank you so much for sharing this video!! Love you Chalene❤️🥰

  8. Make sure your Estrogen Testosterone and Progesterone are optimized..meaning you have replaced them to the best levelfor you..E and T at least 100..THEN..you can invest in peptides..otherwise you might just waste your money..peptides need hormones to work well.

    1. And that’s the hard thing.. finding a dr that will. So many of us can’t afford private care, telehealth etc

    2. @rachellelynn9406my issue isn’t insurance thankfully but a dr who doesnt seem to rely or consider the levels/numbers as much as seems necessary.

  9. You nailed it. This was incredibly informative. I’m in my 50s and have struggled with an eating disorder most of my life, so this really resonated with me. I’m very much for GLP-1s — I’ve seen truly life-changing results for people. But for those of us with a history of disordered eating, this can be a slippery slope. It can quietly reignite old patterns and fixations around food and body image, even after years of trying to build a healthier relationship with both.

Maybe I’m biased because of the era I grew up in, but many women were raised in a culture where being thin was everything. So while these medications can absolutely be used for health and longevity, I sometimes wonder if doctors fully understand the deeper motivations behind why some women want them. It’s a nuance that deserves more conversation

  10. Everyone must be so different. I have maintained 60 percent muscle and 18 percent body fat on tirzepitide for over a year. The lower level does keep me from losing muscle and I have to really eat protein and drink water. It’s work at 65 but I feel amazing! Started at 210 and am 5’4” tall. I do recommend getting to know your body. Test a lot and get a great dr you love!

  11. Such an important topic! So many unsafe sources AND practices out there. As a Harvard Med School trained certified nutrition & health coach, I have my medical team of physicians recommend specific peptides for each client’s specific needs, and they’ll only prescribe after carefully reviewing the person’s full medical history. Peptides are NOT one size fits all! Some can be downright dangerous, depending on your medical history.

  12. This episode was just what I needed to watch. I’ve been dabbling in peptides so this gave me a better understanding of what there purpose and potential is. Thank you very much💕

  13. I used Tymosin Alpha-1 during radiation therapy. I took a break I probably shouldn’t have, but just as I ordered more, I had an inch of shingles. I started it again, and my radiation oncologist was surprised how quickly my skin was healing. I’m now going to KPV and 5 amino 1-. I tried Retatrutide, but some of the inflammation was coming back. I really like Tirzepatide and it’s a pinch cheaper. I think I’ll use Reta for maintenance. I’ve used other cellular function peptides as well. My hospital doesn’t know. When I talk to them, they take notes. I’m the teacher! Interesting, my insurance nurse is originally from Russia. She couldn’t tell me anything, but after I told her my peptide plan, she said she was so happy for me! In Russia, her sister who had cancer was treated with Vit C infusions, other things, and peptides. Not chemo and radiation. She had no sign of cancer after. The insurance companies and big phama has ruined the medical field. This is a way of making ourselves more resilient and not need ongoing, managed decline, pharmaceutical care.

  14. As a women approaching my mid forties……Dr. Yurth’s appearance and voice sounds and looks like she’s living a rough life and anything exact opposite of coaching on longevity. Honestly I was so curious to learn more, but I think I’m good now and believe simply getting more than enough protein and fiber in, lower carb, movement with exercise, lifting weights, and natural supplements to balance my hormones is sufficient . I feel some people think glp 1’s and injectable peptides are miracle things that cancel out how we live, but they don’t. What we do and how we actually live will always come to the light.

    1. I am 20 years older than you. Because I am very thin with less than 10% body fat, I dont have enough fat in my face! Good for metabolic health- not so good for face the face since the face likes fat!. You may have noticed that people with more fat look younger! Need to get fatter..lol! I do need to find time to do some lasers, fillers, etc, but no time right now, as I lecture internationally and have a full-time practice. I apologize for my voice. I had a tumor on my vocal cord and had surgery on that recently, so I’m trying hard to get my voice back. It is hard to see these comments, but it is a reminder to keep working hard to find more balance. But otherwise, I eat optimally, exercise daily, have perfect metabolic health and have energy to do a ton– those are the important things.

    2. @elizabethyurth6924 Thank you for taking the time to respond and for explaining. I’m sorry to hear about the vocal cord surgery and truly wish you a healthy recovery as your voice heals.

My comment came from observing what was presented and speaking from my own perspective on longevity and lifestyle. That said, it’s always a reminder that health is complex and there can be many factors behind what we see externally.

I still believe the basics of nutrition, movement, protein, fiber, healthy fats, and strength training with heavy lifting for long-term health. Wishing you continued healing and continued success.

    3. @elizabethyurth6924 you handled this comment with such Grace and sophistication. What a classy woman you are. I have never seen you before, but I will continue to follow you. You are a wealth of information and again a very classy person.

  15. Such a treat, I love Dr. Yurth! I always learn new and valuable information from her interviews, and I also follow her on her YT channel. For the people who criticize her looks – how about her beautiful eyes, her full lips, and her slender, well‑shaped figure even after having five children? I also appreciate her facial bone structure. ChatGPT estimated, based on her medical school graduation year, that she is likely in her early to mid‑60s, and she looks great and much younger.

    1. Oddly – to me she looks like a younger-dressing – young hairstyle, youngish updated make-up, BUT I would be surprised to learn she is really is only 66.

To me, she appears to be much older (taking everything into account) – but appears younger bc of the way she dresses, etc.
Also, she obviously works out, lifts weight, apparently.

But a 66 YO? I honestly dont think so.

  16. Great video. Very informative. If you’re commenting hate on peptides, thank you for at least watching this video… or part of it. 😆

  17. Thankyou this was great info. Im 60 now and took moungaro last year as i couldnt lose 4kg from menopause it worked so well for me i just microdised for 4 months. Took out all my inflammation which was brilliant but i was guilty of not eating enough protein. I train 5/6days per week im very fit but did lose myscle.
Iv now taken Epitalon peptide to detox and am on NAD and copper peptide seperately! Lets see! I think in snother 10yrs no-one will need to age. I was in the beauty/aedthetic industry 30yrs so i find it fascinating
