Harmonizing Your Diet with Your Body Clock for Optimal Health
The concept of syncing our eating patterns with our body’s natural circadian rhythms is an emerging area of interest within nutrition science and wellness practices. Very good point Doctor!
What do you advise?
Eat Less move more. Cut out fat, meat, eggs, whole milk, eat low fat foods, lots of grains like bread and pasta, more plant-based foods like tofu, veggies, and fruits. That’s the advice I followed for 30+ years until I was 230 lbs. Today I feel a lot better and I’m down to 192 my skin cleared up and my eyesight returned, inflammation is gone. Mostly what I did was do the opposite of this advise.
good for you!
It took you 30 years to get to 230?
@theonlykog Well, no, I yo-yo’ed back and forth, but at my heaviest I was about 230-ish. I think that was around 2000. I was on the various diets: SAD, DASH, vegetarian, flirted with Vegan for a short period of time… .Last 15 years I was trying the Low carb/keto, I got down to 200…. then I stopped keto and, gave into the treats, ate badly, and the weight and other issues crept back in, I think the most then was 215 lbs. 2020, I went back to keto and fat(weight) lowered again to 200. But last year I started carnivore and things really improved. At one point I was 187, but it went up to 192, that isn’t what I’d consider ideal lean weight, but I noticed the belly shrinking down (slowly) so I think this is heading in the right direction. My focus is on health and the belly fat and stuff is secondary. I noticed how I don’t have the food foraging, the anxious need to eat. One or Two meals a day… and I’m good. Such liberation not to be nibbling and snacking all day long. And I feel lighter since I can do the intermittent fasting without even giving it a second thought. I always say this: Your milage may vary. I found what works for me at this time, if it changes, I will change. I am not married to ideology, if it works it works. I hope that this answered your question. I tend to write long comments.
@HobbyHalloween How liberating can fasting be when you’re not stopping and eating twice a day.
I struggled with my weight my whole life until at nearly 300 lbs I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic. My labs were scary and I was in bad shape internally. I started oral medication but also a ketogenic diet, and was able to not only get my A1C down but over the next few years, I lost a total of 150lbs. I will never go back to a standard American diet of processed junk, sugar, seed oils, and carbs!
I am convinced it is related to a few ingredients that changed which breaks our metabolism. High fructose corn syrup is certainly one. I am also suspicious of the wheat the industry switched to for making breads and pastas. I think the product is now dangerous. In Europe they dont have the problems we are having here. And a record number of young people here have issues with IBS and gluten intolerence.
Thank you Dr. Fung, Love you 😊😊🎉🎉❤❤
The ‘ low fat ‘ message also started in the 70’s !
