No, eating “normal” is not possible if you want to remain diabetes free! NORM-CARB diet is the way to go. Set your target. Error on the side of caution!

  3. Here’s the thing…we don’t have an active lifestyle anymore. We don’t work in agriculture nor do we walk everywhere…. So even if you did go back to eating more carbs, well, have you developed an active lifestyle?

Also, we didn’t live longer. Meaning society never developed an eating lifestyle to reflect that. As we need to eat differently at different ages.

  4. I have noticed that I can now eat more carrbs now after working on this for the past 18 months. Even if I was magically “cured” I wouldn’t go back to my old ways.

    1. great, well done, i hope i can reverse or lower mine, i love potatos and gravy, havent had since March, really craving some foods

    2. @@scottulbrich5376 Here’s some hope for you. I can have a couple of servings of Cheez-Its without a spike anymore. I don’t test often because I lost a lot of weight keeping in line, but it’s nice to see the improvement. I haven’t had real pizza in a year and a half so I know how you feel. Keep at it and good things will come.

  5. Eating normal was wrong. Why would I go back? After so much healing, returning to my old ways is unthinkable. I know who I am. If I flirt with carbs even a little bit, they’ll reel me in.

  6. Perhaps I can answer this question. I reversed prediabetes numbers. When I discovered I was prediabetic, I immediately changed my diet from a low saturated fat (<10 gms/day), high carb (200-250 grams/day). moderate protein diet to a low carb (<20 gms/day), high protein, higher saturated fat diet and started exercising more regularly. Lost a little bit of weight, got down to my ideal body weight, and this removed myself from borderline insulin resistance and have a consistent 88-92 mg/dl baseline fasting glucose. Sometimes I do have a 200 gm plus carb day by eating some pizza and a snack. This type of eating makes me very tired and spikes my glucose above 180 mg/dl. If I do a bit of running (at least 6 minutes) just after the spike, I can get it to rapidly drop to normal, and it has minimal effect on my future blood glucose readings. However, if don't exercise that day it will take a couple of days of low carb diet to get back to my normal fasting glucose baseline of 88-92.

  7. I reversed my prediabetes 6.1 to 5.2 A1C after quitting table sugar and sugary treats and losing 30 pounds. I eat whatever I want in smaller portions and my A1C remains normal after years. My doctor orders labs every 3 months. Cholesterol and triglyceride levels and BP also went down to normal after losing weight and I quit the meds.

  8. HBA1C was 7.2; Then 5.6; Now 5.1. Wheight 96KG; Now 65KG. Heart function @ 20%; Now a normal for my age of 64, @ 60%. I have been reborn! I eat well, sleep well. I’m never going back!
Thanks for the guidance Dennis. Couldn’t have done it without you.

  9. I’ll never go back to the before, and I started getting unwell, and was getting the wrong advice which made it worse. My life has turned around from the positive changes I made and I’ll be keeping it that way for as long as I’m breathing TYG 🙏.

  10. Amen and God Bless for reinforcing the message from what I heard ,and what I learnt on my own, too -you can’t really go back.
