Dr Fung is killing it! 👏 👏 👏
Thank You My DR.Fung, Truly Appreciate All your Advices, Very Blessed to have you in the internet community
Dr Ken Berry doesn’t think vegetables are good because they are from plants
It is because some people have difficulty with plants.
Dr. Berry is brainwashed to believe a lie. Fiber has it functions in our system, they don’t just pass through. If one can’t tolerate fiber at all, that means their digestive system is very messed up and needs treatment to restore it to more normal. It was made to work with fiber.
Dr. Berry is the leading authority on what is good for Dr. Berry.
Everyone is different. There are many people following other diet advice that are losing weight, improving their health, and thriving! When you watch these influencers, keep in mind that they also have a (huge) financial interest in keeping you “in the fold.”
@candacerushing6882 and you will never know what they do off camera. They’ve built fame on that facade so now they have to keep going on camera so they don’t lose MONEY.
@candacerushing6882 that’s not good for Dr berry either. also Dr Berry’s digestion is a human being digestion. We’re one species and have the same insides. It’s not like he’s a human with a lion’s insides and the other person is a human with a cow’s insides. Plants and meat “should” be fine for all humans, but some are sick and need treatment. I bet Dr berry ruined his digestive system and will take a long time to restore it to normal to be able to tolerate a plant food again.
Eat more fiber ? I will definitely give it a try 👍
No thank you. I don’t tolerate fiber, nor carbs, nor even low carb vegetables, but absolutely thrive eating only meat, fish, and eggs. My digestion has especially improved after removing all fiber and carbs.
I’m genuinely curious. Do you suffer from constipation?
If you can’t tolerate fiber at all, that means your digestive system is so messed up. Our system was made to work with fiber. Something needs to be done to fix it or improve it.
@br_Eoh people on low to no fiber diets still use the bathroom, just less volume and less frequency. Think of babies, they only drink milk but they still go #2.
But that’s not a healthy diet. Fiber has its roles in our system, they don’t just pass though without any function.
@br_Eoh Not at all. But I eat a high fat carnivore diet. If I ate only lean meat I would likely be constipated, have low energy, and probably several other issues. Most people who eat carnivore get between 60-80% of their calories from fat and the rest from protein.
@greentree_ My health has improved in every possible way eating carnivore. Even my mental illness has went into remission. So why would I “fix” having the best health at 54 than I’ve had since my 20s? Carnivore for four years now and I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.
Please don’t eat more fiber. Don’t eat any fiber. I love Dr Fung, his first book was instrumental in me losing weight and getting healthy. But then I discovered keto, then carnivore.
We don’t need fiber. We should be nourishing our bodies with food, not filling ourselves with something indigestible that irritates the colon.
I hope Dr Fung reaches the point where he starts to embrace low-carb, carnivore. That is the way to maintaining weight loss. Eat nutrient dense food that way you won’t have to fool your body by filling up on something that your body can’t use and can’t digest.
Think about it, why would you want to fill up on something that your body can’t use?
The purpose of food is to nourish us.
Get your short chain fatty acids from real food. You’ll get all of the supposed plant phytochemicals from the meat you eat.
Eat once or twice a day, eat nutrient dense food until you are full. Eat fatty meat until it stops tasting good. Then stop eating and don’t eat again until you’re hungry. Don’t eat by the clock, most of us don’t need breakfast. If you’re not a pregnant woman or a child you don’t need to be eating first thing in the day.
Once you get rid of carbohydrates you won’t be hungry all the time, you won’t be craving food, it will naturally let your insulin drop and your body will be able to utilize stored body fat.
Intermittent fasting, something Dr Fung teaches, becomes much easier when you are in ketosis. Whether you get there through a ketogenic diet that still includes some plants or a carnivore diet that doesn’t. There are significant anti-nutrients in plant foods that interfere with the body’s absorption of nutrients.
Well you may think about your gut microbiota . It’s essential to multiple body functions and , yes, it requires fiber.
@miguelangelperez2849I’m sorry, it does not. The healthiest microbiomes are in people who are carnivore. Please, no propaganda, do your due diligence, research it.
It’s very important to be open to contrary information. The more you believe something, the more important it is. I used to be just like you, I thought fiber was very important for the microbiome and I have learned differently. I hope the same is true for you.
Your comment sounds more personal than nutritionally sound.
You are absolutely incorrect about FIBER and the function that it performs in the body. To eat a natural diet or whole foods is to eat FIBER. Good food has it.
To tell people not to eat it, and do Keto or carnivore diets which are NOT healthy long term is stupid.
Those diets LACK essential nutrients for bodies and will create health issues if used long term.
Fiber is necessary for a healthy body, just as healthy carbs are.
So, YOU need to do more thorough research and STOP believing in the latest fad. And stop giving advice when your information is 💯 incorrect.
@sacredwaters9 The tone of your comment gives it away, you believe this, you don’t have the science to substantiate it but you believe it nonetheless. This is what you were taught. I understand, I was taught the same thing, it took a while for me to be able to open my mind to contrary evidence.
How did we evolve our big brains during the ice ages when there were no carbohydrates and no fiber to be had?
It’s important to be able to ask questions that challenge our beliefs.
What about the Inuit and the Maasai? There are other peoples who do not eat carbohydrates or who eat very few carbohydrates and are very healthy with some of the healthiest microbiomes. When modern agriculture started, we got shorter, our brains became smaller and we started having issues with our jaws, teeth, and arthritis. These issues did not exist before agriculture. You do not have to eat a strict carnivore diet, it is ancestrally consistent to have a small amount of fruit when it is picked ripe, locally grown and organic for a few weeks of the year.
The problem with most plant foods is that they are grown in depleted topsoil, chemical fertilizers are added, chemical pesticides, herbicides, glyphosate and other toxins are used. Even organic doesn’t mean much legally. There is also the fact that our fruit and vegetables bear no resemblance to what our ancestors ate. Our fruit today has been modified to be bigger and sweeter, to contain more fructose which is a burden to the liver. Fructose prompts a bigger insulin response, we would eat it to fatten up for the lean times.
How did we manage without fiber during the ice ages?
How do the Inuit and Maasai manage without fiber? How do the other peoples who eat minimal carbohydrates manage to be healthy without fiber? Not only healthier but far healthier than us.
Stop and ask yourself these questions. Look at the tone of your comment versus the tone of mine.
What about the millions who have reversed chronic health issues by simply stopping carbohydrates of all kinds?
It is important to be open to contrary information, the more firmly you believe something the more important it is to be open to information when it is presented.
What is behind the hostility in your comment? Are you vegetarian or vegan? Do you belong to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church? They believe that eating meat causes lustful feelings and are against it for that reason. Harvey Kellogg was a member of that church, he created his cereals as a means of suppressing lust, that’s what he believed. It isn’t entirely wrong, when the body is well nourished we seek to procreate.
Your tone, the attitude in your comment, the all caps,, the emojis, all of it shows that you are not open and believe it is appropriate to be hostile and condescending to others.
The dean at Harvard Medical School in the 1940s and the 1950s used to tell his graduating class, half of what we are teaching you is wrong, we don’t know which half. This was to make sure they would guard against treating anything as sacrosanct.
At least half of conventional dietary advice is wrong. Our food pyramid has finally been flipped, that’s a step in the right direction. A few years ago the idea of putting grains at the bottom and protein at the top would have been scoffed at as you have scoffed at me. Now it is finally being implemented, recognition has been made that this is the correct way to eat.
It’s important to stay current with science as it evolves. It’s also important to recognize that studies are frequently funded by entities with a financial interest. For example, Coca-Cola spends 17 times more on nutrition research than the NIH. When an entity funds studies, those studies will favor that entity or the funding will cease.
I took the time to edit this comment and include more information because I think we have a responsibility to do that even in the face of overt hostility. I am going to take myself out of the conversation now though.
It is fact we do not need fiber, we never did. There are no required carbohydrates. We don’t need to have our stomachs filled with something our body can’t use. The microbiome of carnivores, people eating a carnivore diet, is very diverse and healthy. The small amount of carbohydrate we need is made in the body through a process known as gluconeogenesis.
Before responding with hostility as you have already done, take the time to determine whether what is being said has merit before simply firing back.
Science evolving and recognizing flaws in established beliefs is not a fad. That is how knowledge increases.
I spent about an hour writing a lengthy response to the person who was borderline rude to me in her comment above.
I’m not telling anyone that they should eat an exclusively carnivore diet. It is fine to have a little bit of seasonal, organic, locally grown fruit if it is picked ripe for the few weeks of the year when it is available.
For anyone reading this comment who feels that it might not be correct please take a moment to read the lengthy response I wrote. I am open to contrary evidence, I’ve spent years immersed in this area. Even so, I recognize that there is always more to learn.
Oh no…I hope dr bart doesn’t get a hold of this clip
Saturated fats and proteins will do the same job no?
Dr Fung. What you have to say is very important. That means we need to hear it crystal clear. Time to get a high quality clip on microphone so we can hear you the best.
I cant do fiber at all my stomach doesn’t handle it so carnivore for me along with alternate day fasting
What kind of fiber is best for slowing down the absorption of carbs? Soluble or insoluble, and what specific varieties do you recommend? Thanks!
Is cereal fibre..weetabix etc
Fibre causes too much gas to me
Does inulin have the same effects?
Fiber, and plants, are hard on the gut. Yeah it slows glucose spikes but the area under the curve is the same. There’s a much better way. Don’t eat carbs. Don’t eat fiber, and don’t eat plants. You’ll experience the smoothest, most comfortable digestion of your life. Plus your glucose and insulin will stay low, you’ll reduce inflammation, improve mental clarity and your general mood.
What about for people with IBD? Fibre good or bad for us+
Thank you Dr. Fung, God Bless you ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊Love you!
