Another awesome conversation- first Bikman, now Boz. Thank you. 🙏

This is a great discussion- how do you get a person into the headspace for fasting.

When I first saw Dr Fung talk about extended fasts I realized either he is crazy or I need to change my thinking. Then – and this is the most important part – get myself into the headspace to fast. I asked myself why am I doing this – and for me it had to be about more than just weight loss.

At that point I wasn’t just ready to fast, but I was driven to fast. I got into alternate day fasting and dropped weight with assistance of biomarkers.

The other piece is this- starting one practice begets other practices. Fasting turned into sauna, turned into cold plunges. After I lost my target weight, I got into weight lifting. There are things we can’t know at the start, but I think they are things that people can walk intentionally and that’s such a key role for a clinician.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  • @ketobyirinaattreemed2745 says:

I am keto diet and Intermittent fasting coach and also have my own experience see people reversing lots of health issues, including cancer, just so sad we are doing it without doctors support , as Doctors in Mauritius is still not aware of keto diet 😮

  • @ketobyirinaattreemed2745 says:

I am on keto diet for past 11 years, from my experience -first we go on keto diet and let body get used to fats as main source of energy then slowly we slide in to intermittent fasting 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD, then 36 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours and so on! Its magic ❤

    • @JohnsonNestorFamily says:

Yes! That was how I did it also 👍

    • @ketobyirinaattreemed2745 says:

      @@JohnsonNestorFamily great 👍🏻

    • @markfromearth4 says:

I had the opposite experience. I started to do long water fasts to drop weight quickly, but returned to a high carb’ diet between fasts. I would start to gain weight then needed to fast again. This went on for five years.
Now that I have discovered the carnavore diet, my weight is steady, I’m never left feeling hungry, and I no longer need to fast, and my gut health has improved immensely!

    • @alamgiramirbaig says:

Otherwise our coming generations will depend on big pharma created so called organic supplements. And lab growth meats and vegetables.
      We don’t have any choices.❤

    • @anir8023 says:

That’s not magic when u reach premenopause, it actually will screw ur hormones

  • @alananderson5202 says:

A physician may have reservations about saying it on YouTube. But I’ve done many extended fasts. Up to seven days. Many 3, 4, and 5 day fasts having only water. I supervise myself. I’ve read at least 13 books on the subject. I’m not afraid to do it.

    • @kjkernSerendipity says:

Have you done any dry fasts?

    • @LBinsocal says:

Yes , and you won’t get either to promote long term fasting. I had to leave Dr Fung’s facebook group because they threatened to bar me , for talking about anything over a 3 day fast. I’ve done multiple 10-15 day fasts on my own, with no issues. On the other hand, since I started doing them over 5 yrs ago, I never get sick with anything. Covid somehow passed me right by, along with routine bouts of bronchitis, I used to get. And that comes from someone whose wife complained every winter, OMG you’re sick again! LOL. not anymore, not even a headache in over 5 yrs.

  • @TorBoy9 says:

A great conversation between Dr Fung and Dr Boz. I am a big fan of both. I had heard of the starvation of cancer cells by doing a low carb (<20g/day) but had not realized how much it could reduce the growth and therefore help you with your cancer treatment. Insulin is a growth hormone I though was specific to fat cells, but its growth promotion capabilities are much more far reaching. Thanks for bring this up to our attention. I already do 18/6 and a low carb/keto (<20g/day), so no change there.

  • @emmasue4181 says:

Excellent discussion. Two of my favorite people.

  • @JohnsonNestorFamily says:

Please keep these interviews coming! I share them all!
It’s so reassuring for me to hear that what I learned from your books, lectures and videos is still spot on.
I’m 61 now and lost 160lbs. by eating LCHF keto and learning how to fast. I’m four years now from starting my journey and I’m loving my fasting lifestyle 🥰.
Thanks Dr.Fung for all you do 👍🙏🥰

  • @acocacola4u says:

Dr. Fung, I’ve watched many videos of yours and of Dr. Boz. I feel I’ve learned more from this video because of how you both explained things. Thanks for this wonderful video!

  • @angieho9994 says:

Thanks Dr Fung am free pre diabetic after 3/52 intermittent fasting ..

  • @dougster6948 says:

Both of you said it correctly. But my Cardiologist seem to be obsessed about LDL when all my other markers came down over 3 months. He is not even interesting with my intermittent fasting and weight loss. Looks like I will be going to a new Cardiologist. And I am in the best shape bodily & mentally.

    • @Onafarmlovinit says:

My doctor pulls the same thing. I insulted her intellectual side by not following her instructions. Her answer is a “pill” for everything. I’m looking for a new doctor!

  • @claudia-B. says:

Kuddos dor Dr. Erick Berg. Dr. Pradip Jamnadas. Dr. Frank Suarez. Dr. Bayter Dr. Jason Fung. Dr. Kevin Reesse and Dr. Bosworth.

  • @StancyTalk says:

I have an eight hour eating window, down 80 pounds. While sipping my black coffee in the morning, I prepare a huge Whole Foods plant-based salad. Dark leafy greens, beans, onions, home, pickled beets, artichoke hearts, shredded carrots, olives, pumpkin seeds, The list goes on. I top it with a spice mix that I make every Sunday that has about 10 different spices. A salad dressing that I make from high-quality olive oil or flax oil. I eat this meal twice during my eight hour window. And that’s it. It’s so delicious. I dream about it.

  • @briandales1747 says:

Did a 30 day once for the hell of it. Felt amazing and lost a pound a day. Biggest problem was finding stuff to do with all the extra time and money!

  • @westcoastswingmusic says:

I’m so grateful for both of you! 🙌🏻

  • @gatesroyale says:

This man is the real deal. I asked if he can do an interview and he said as long as you’re not gonna be receiving any financial gain thank you so much for being a person a hero for the community.
