  1. Thanks for giving us the Big Picture! Perhaps it will motivate some people to change to a low carb, low spike eating pattern. Yes, diabetes complications can be avoided! Thanks, Dennis!

  2. You are right, Dennis. Adaptation is what we all must do as we age, so changing our diet to maintain our health is part of it. Reversing The progression of diabetes by lowering carbs can bring glucose and A1c back to normal. It is no different than reducing sodium to bring down blood pressure or reducing fats to compensate for the removal of a gall bladder. I don’t understand why some people keep pointing out we have not reversed diabetes by lowering carbs. If we choose to eat differently for whatever medical condition and it has improved, that’s the way to go. We can’t keep doing what we had done in our youth. We must adapt in order to be in the best condition possible for our age. Thank you, Dennis, for another clear explanation of diabetes.

  4. We all can create these pictures in our heads with no problem but to see them on paper (a board) out there infront of us makes a greater impression that is easier to remember and to recall. Thank you Dennis, for doing this for us.

  5. Dennis, since losing weight (135 so far) I have noticed that my insulin resistance has improved quite a bit. I am eating low carb of course, but my rises are in the 120-130s and they drop very quickly. I would say within two hours or less I am back to baseline. My lows are now in the 80’s during the day until dinner time. I am more concerned about lows than I am highs. I’ve also tested some foods that should have spiked me, but just a normal rise. I know if I ate a giant carb filled meal I’d get up there, but it’s good t see hard work is paying off.

This journey started last March when I hit 6.9 for the first time and have been in the Five’s Club since May or June.
