Why I Got A Facelift (And Why I’m Not Sorry!)

Chalene Johnson shares a fully transparent, unfiltered conversation about her age affirming surgery, also known as a facelift, four weeks after the procedure. She breaks down exactly what she had done, why she chose to be public about cosmetic surgery, and what social media before and after videos never show about facelift recovery, risks, and reality. This episode is not about promoting plastic surgery or telling anyone what they should do with their body. It is a grounded, honest discussion about aging, personal autonomy, identity, and why beauty choices should not be treated as a moral issue. If you have ever felt torn between aging naturally and considering cosmetic procedures, this episode offers clarity, context, and a more realistic framework for making informed decisions.

  1. You look great before and after. We all need to do what we think is best for ourselves. We only have 1 life to live.

  2. You do everything with class and honesty- thank you for being the inspiration and roll model that you are. ❤❤

    1. @chalenejohnsonwomen supporting women with a refreshing amount of honesty talk on ALL issues we encounter. We are all fans and your hard work has blessed us all. Xoxox
I’ve been fangirling from the 90’s and for good reason. 😊

  3. Girl i need you to delete the negative remarks because we aren’t here for them we are here for YOU and the 1000% relatable content!! We’re honest and want honest support… not jealous hateful crap!! CHALENE PLZ IGNORE THEM!!
    I AM!!

    1. Thank you!! I do ignore the negative but honestly, I’m overwhelmed by how many women have been crazy supportive!!

    2. I agree! No more justification, nor apologies. Those who fully respect your freedom and agency will stick around! Others can move on.

    3. Congratulations…..nothing wrong with having a facelift and appreciate the information on your experience…you look great…what I don’t agree with or like from other influencers who had one who still try to sell us products that obviously did not work for them….double standard

      .

    1. There;s nothing wrong with a woman wanting to keep some things personal. People like you need to mind your own business and worry about yourself.

    2. @cara7356well aren’t you the a$$hole of the day. No one asked for your opinion, and I’m sorry that’s how your whole life has been, but when you are a rude person, people dont value your opinions try being nicer and then you might find yourself finding friends instead of being a lonely miserable person who has to be rude to people to get any attention in life.

  4. Thank you for this update! I love that you are a girl’s girl! We need to normalize trying to look our best, even if that means elective surgery. I think some folks are angry because they can’t afford elective surgery not because you got the surgery. I’m saving up and I appreciate all of the knowledge you are sharing! 😘

    1. Thank you. I agree, we don’t need to moralize personal choices. Everyone gets to decide what works for them, when it works for them. I’m really glad the info is helpful.

  5. Your surgeon did lovely work. You don’t look like a completely different person, just pretty and rested. Congrats!

    1. @chalenejohnsonshould have done upper lip lift !!! U deserve to do what the hell u want it’s your money your face !! I had money tt -fl-arm Lipo bbl!! Eyes 👀 everywhere that needs tucked I think health insurance should cover it

    2. A facelift is not designed to make us different. People should stop lumping restoration with beautification. It’s just about restoring what has been damaged by time.

  6. Hi Charlene, Tanya here from Australia. Congrats on the choice to look as young as you feel!! I am 14 days post op from the same. I am still swollen at the moment but really happy with the result that is coming through. I am a year older than you and am similar to you in a lot of ways. Gym, business owner, etc plus mum of 6. I was exactly the same as you with the reasons for my decision. Just wanted to shout out from Oz to let you know how much I enjoy your channel. You are my US sister. Thanks again, look forward to the next video!!

  7. I am73 and I am 17 days post facelift ( in Prague ) feeling great, swelling almost gone , best thing I’ve ever done . I got great encouragement when I saw how fabulous you were looking so quickly after you’re procedure 👌🌞🍾

    1. Hi Christina, If you don’t mind me asking, which doctor did you go to in Prague? I’m always curious to hear about good experiences.
Wishing you continued healing and lots of joy with your results!

  8. I’m just 80 in great health and just had a second face-lift (the first was early 50’s) and I’m super happy and I’m so happy that you look and feel so great!!! Bravo for you!!!!

  9. Hey Chalene, girl, you look FABULOUS!!! I have been rooting for you this entire process, and I love what you shared regarding the tape and how that made you realize that you wanted to make the changes permanently. I am 42, and I was so inspired by your honesty and your transformation that I began my “nip tuck” savings account this year. I am in the best shape of my life, and I feel better than I did in my 20s, so when the time comes and gravity starts gravity-ing, trust and believe my face will be in the place, with no regrets!!! You look INCREDIBLE, and I am looking forward to more of your refreshing content!!! ❤❤❤

  10. I am 2 days post opp of your surgery. I tried telling my neighbors and they weren’t all positive. If I had to do it over again, I would only just tell my family. And even my family runs hot and cold. I am 72 and my husband and kids are thrilled. That’s enough for me.❤ so proud of us girl.

    1. I had a lower deep plane facelift and fat injected under my eyes on January 8. It was so worth it! Don’t listen to the naysayers.

    2. I wished I had the money for face rejuvenation. I probably wouldn’t do a facelift, but a deep plane treatment.

  11. The secure women watching your videos will leave loving comments. The insecure women watching your videos will leave hurtful comments. That’s about them. Not about you. You’re not responsible for other people’s feelings. Try to let go of the hurtful comments from the insecure people. Most of us deeply appreciate your openness and honesty about your experience having this surgery. Thank you Charlene. You are beautiful, inside and out.❤❤🥰

  12. This is the reason I love love following your channel is the strength you have, the positivity, the honesty. You work for what you have and can do what you want in your life. You look amazing! I was almost 40 when I got braces. I had the most crooked bottom teeth. Some couldn’t believe I got braces at that age but I knew I didnt want to go my whole life with my teeth like that. 2 years I had them on and at times wondered why I put myself through that but when I got them off I just felt great. I’m going to be 60 next month, I still wear my retainer at night occasionally 😂 I take care of my teeth. It’s the little things in life ❤

  13. The thing about people who get work done, face lifts, etc., is that they still look their age afterwards. Like, someone who’s in their 40s still looks like they’re in their 40s, or someone in their 50s still looks like they’re in their 50s, etc. The only possible exceptions to this are black or Latino/Latina people, as long as the work is done well and isn’t too extreme. So, generally, people can look good *for their age* but still look that age. Energy, larger droopy ears, bodily expression and speaking voice also tend to give people’s age away.

    1. That is not true for everybody whatsoever. I’ve seen some facelift results in person where the women looked 10 years younger. As for those who still will look in their age range. Would you rather be in your 40’s/50+ looking tired, with saggy skin? Or being in your 40’s/50’s+ but look absolutely fabulous for your age?
