We are all different- anatomically, I’m blessed that I started walking (and running) barefoot many years ago. Yep, running barefoot (just know your path and surroundings) 😉

I was always one without shoes (when appropriate)- and naturally do not like wearing footwear of any kind. I need to touch the earth with my feet everyday.

Go for it! Barefoot shoes for the win- gradually, and listen to YOUR body. 👣 ❤

Thank you so much for sharing!

OMG,that’s amazing. I love that “earthing” feeling when your feet are touching the ground. But my feet aren’t tough enough to go barefoot everywhere😁

    • @rachaelalbanese1851 says:

      @ ❤️
I love all that you share in this space of women’s health! Thank you Charlene! 🙏✨

@@rachaelalbanese1851 thank you for being here!

Me too!! I hate footwear!! I even go barefoot in the snow in my yard!! It feels so invigorating and good! I have extremely high arches- so an orthotic is very helpful when I must wear shoes. I hate heels- they destroy feet! I dance ballet demi-pointe- it is very strengthening to the muscles and bones of the feet. Barefoot ballet barre exercises are very strengthening for the feet.

Chalene! I started wearing barefoot shoes over a year ago and will never go back! In the winter, I now buy my boots one size larger and get them in wide.

  • @tracyreinecke4741 says:

That’s what I really appreciate about you Chalene. You are so honest. Also sooo informative

As soon as I watched your interview with Mark, I JUMPED on it and bought me a pair for Xmas! I have been struggling with foot issues for years! I’m still working on getting them broken in and used to them. It is a bit of a challenge at first to get them(and the socks) on correctly but they are soooo comfortable! I went up a whole shoe size because I wasn’t too sure and wanted to get it right the first time! Lol! I have told so many about the benefits and am going to share this video with all of them! Thanks, Chalean for all your amazing, informative videos and all the research you do! ❤

    • @chalenejohnson says:

That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing! And I agree, it takes a little time to get used to them but so worth it

Chalene’s beauty and brains on youtube make Sundays “Super Sunday”, a football game doesn’t! Chalene is a priceless treasure!

I’ve been wearing vibram 5 fingers since I was 35. I’m 50 now. I only wore them in warm weather. Now I wear brands like Hike daily…its a minimalist shoe …thin,no toes showing shoe. But I love toe socks and toes sneakers too. Mobility exercises changed my life. No more hip pain. Tom Morrison in particular on youtube, has great programs and a lot of free advice and exercises on his channel. I own his 3 lifetime programs. Not expensive for what you get. His toe and foot exercises helped me a great deal. I love walking barefoot. I love the strength my feet have attained…but the toe exercises are important for improvement. My style is sporty spice / boho. I like comfort.

Chalene, I have been waiting for this video ever since you interviewed Mark! I’m a big exerciser and a fitness instructor (mostly Zumba – so I was cracking up with glee watching you and your mom – so fun!), and over the last couple years, the overuse injuries have been insane. I presently have very uncomfortable plantar fasciitis in one foot, as well as some hip and lower back problems. I’ve struggled with knee issues in the past. I know I should probably rest, but I find that impossible, as not moving makes me a little cuckoo. Up to this point, I have been wearing mostly hokas, as a Band-Aid effort, because they do feel so comfortable. I have a pair of cheap barefoot shoes, but I don’t know if they help at all. I also go barefoot quite a lot in my everyday life. This video might actually catapult me into buying the (more expensive) Peluvas, because I value your honest opinion, and don’t think you’d just try to sell something. I appreciate the insights you provide!

P.S. “Housewife hooker” had me on the floor! Yes, that’s def your style. 🤣🤣

    • @calista1280 says:

You sound like me. before my accident, about always moving! I learned the hard way! But. you can keep moving, just start being more kind & considerate to your body.🕊 Your body is your permanent vessel of transportation! Take better care of yourself, like you would care for a friend…
Do you beat your car up, like you do your body? Probably not, right?!…
It is a very difficult mental exercise, but I know you can do it, like I did! You’ll start to appreciate the scenery around you and the small tasks like washing dishes, become meditative and introspective….You’ll become aware of the birds singing, children laughing, the individual leaves on a tree or shrub, flower petals.
Life is more peaceful, less chaotic & much less painful.
      Embrace Joy & Serenity 🕊

  • @MtnMama1969 says:

I’ve been waiting for your follow up on the shoes & logged in today to post & ask when to expect it! Yay! Thank you so much for the info. I assumed you’d like them for good reasons & now I really want to get a pair.

  • @jenniferrodriguez2700 says:

Chalene , girl what have you been doing,? You look younger and younger every video!

  • @rebeccap223 says:

I had to pause the video just to write this! The reason I love listening to your channel and I get so excited when you post is precisely because of this line “in between a house wife hooker and Dolly Parten” ❤😂❤😂 The Best!!

  • @mariad.5440 says:

I had been waiting for this video since the interview with Mark

  • @mariad.5440 says:

Love your videos; they are so fun to watch but the content is always interesting

  • @amywaszak9624 says:

I do strength training and Pilates at home, both barefoot. It’s so freeing and strengthening for my feet. I once had a Pilates instructor who would instruct us to do the class barefoot, explaining that our thick cushiony shoes were like “coffins” for our feet. Also, foot strength is key in preventing falls as we age.

  • @KathyJohnsonKMBJ says:

I haven’t tried minimalist shoes yet, but I switched to wide toe box shoes 18 months ago. Not just “wide” shoes, but a style where the toe box is slightly wider than the heel. They felt like clown shoes for a while, but they were life changing. My feet literally changed shape, my bunions have almost gone away, and my balance is so much better. I highly recommend wide toe box if you’re not ready for the minimalist shoes yet!

  • @user-jy7mc2gp2y says:

Thank you, Chalene! I have been wanting to try this shoe design for a while.

  • @islagoo says:

You’re so funny, smart, and honest, I love you! 💜

  • @mikaelawalker9713 says:

I love Hike cuz you cant see the individual “toes” yet my toes are free. I felt like I had duck feet but got over it cuz my toes are happy! Great video thx

  • @thordiskarlsdottir3602 says:

Thank you Challene for this video and I hope that more shoe producers will get on board to create healthy shoes that also look great. I use Vivobarefoot shoes for over 6 years now and I´ll not going back. Also Altra has some very good zero drop flat shoes with wide toe boxes.

  • @AustraliaUnmasked1984 says:

I have been walking barefoot at the rocks and on the beach.
    It’s so liberating.
