  1. Every time I see a book or magazine claiming to have the best foods/recipes for a diabetic in the stores – especially cookbooks – I run the other way. I buy most of my books from thrift stores and first thing I look at in the so called diabetic cookbooks is the carb counts for each recipe. 9 out of 10 times, they are high carbs. And then there are the ingredients – all kinds of fruit, grains, etc. but they claim they are healthy for a person with diabetes. Most of the time, the cookbooks need to be classified as Keto or Carnivore to fit within my guidelines. BTW, I saw that magazine at the grocery store too and because of my experience described above, I just walked right on past it. It is a shame that this misinformation can be published and some people (NOT ME!) can be given dangerous information that they will buy hook, line and sinker.

    1. I would have ignored it as well, except I thought it might be educational for Beat Diabetes to examine it briefly.

  2. Been keto for 2 1/2 years, hgb a1c from 9.1 to 6.5, but still on long acting insulin and still stubborn insulin resistance. And no weight loss for a year. i still look like someone who eats a tub of ice cream every night, but at least I no longer have a fatty liver

  3. For type 2 diabetes, medications are mostly a cheat that allow people to not make the tough choices of changing their diet, losing weight, and exercising.

  4. one year for me, solo and nobody helping, it’s trial and error avoiding all foods that will elevated my blood glucose ignoring dietitian recommended diet. that’s was when I’m still injecting insulin and having plantbased diet, it went downhill for me when my endocrinologist detected steroids in my system having eaten a plantbased diet for over a year. currently T2DM & HTN still in remission since Dec 2023 and meds free and currently following a carnivore diet. ✌🏻😁🥩💪🏻

plantbased is not so innocent after all but luckily it was detected early.

Thanks for sharing the info from that Diabetes magazine, Dennis. I enjoy hearing all points of view, but I really wouldn’t use this info as my foremost/primary guide to beating diabetes. Per Dennis, diet is really 90% of the battle. There is an epidemic of diabetes throughout the world. Per Dennis, “I spit on processed foods!”

  6. yeterday. i left the doctor and he so surprise . he saw my blood work and told me what going on. you was a sick person for years and now you’re healthy. lost weight and a1 c is6.6 and nothing thing is wrong. with me. i told him i still on a keto diet. he never believer in it and now he change his mind. he was taught you can eat rice and beans just don’t eat a lot of it. but if i eat any carbs, it will make me hungry and eat more. i use to eat 2 plate. of carbs. with double the meats. now i get less meat because I’m not hungry. the expect believe that if you dont eat carbs yu eat more meat and raise your cholesterol , but it don’t. we need to educate the doctors to stop eating carbs.

    1. At my first visit with a new dr I informed her that diabetes runs in my family and I ate keto to avoid becoming diabetic. She loudly scoffed at me and said “if you’re gonna get diabetes, you’re gonna get diabetes. Your diet isnt going to do much for you.”

    2. @@ElaAusDemTaland to think, those drs paid a fortune ro be as misinformed as they are. I try to stay out of the drs office as much as possible.

  7. It took me a little over 2 months to go from 12.2 to 5.8. I was quite dilligent to get the numbers down. I wouldn’t say i reversed it but I’m managing. Only had a few “symptoms” go away but I’m not seeing a huge difference. I do have cervical spine issues that are feeding into the problem as a whole. Im not consistently high glucose anymore, which is good.

  8. I learned the other day a person can buy over the counter insulin. I thought it was a prescription only thing and looked it up. Yep, you sure can. Old original insulin, tricky to use and you better know what you’re doing but you can buy it OTC. I told my neighbor it would be much better to treat the cause not the symptoms.

  9. Within 6 months (March 2024 to Oct 2024) I went from a 6.9 to a 5.6. Three months later mid-fives and and soon after that low-fives. Last A1C 5.0. I think my weight loss ( also a low carb lifestyle and of course finding this channel at the start of my journey) is the biggest factor in reversing it. I can honestly say my insulin sensitivity has improved quite a bit. No meds.

  10. yeah, they trying to make diabetics confused, yes pretty successful. But, however, once out, never back. Personally, now I do know, how I become diabetic and even how I get rid of it, because I did it both side. Thank You Dennis for your help when I needed it mostly, it was a guide I followed and it brings me where I’m now, non diabetic, yes and I stay there, done.

  11. Great video, I reversed my prediabetes from 6.1 to 5.2 A1C by mainly cutting out table sugar and sugary treats and as a result lost weight. I eat whatever I want in smaller portions and remain stable after years. My doctor orders labs every 3 months.

  12. I started my journey to low carb diet last Tuesday, tremendous results with in a week,my fasting nd post prandial came to below 100,I m very excited to see my results, hope my hba1 c reduces,it’s 6.4 now
Thanks to pastor Dennis for the valuable lessons abt diabetes,I m from India
