  1. I have never slept well…even as a child. I sure wish I could sleep better. I try all the tricks but nothing really helps.

  2. I to never slept as a kid and had night terrors even though I did not watch scary movies… I did not eat sweet things either.Perhaps my sleep issues were part of things.I know that nightworkers are also prone to Diabetes. I also worked nights.

  3. mum always had us go to bed at same time. But remember the twice a year time change. Maybe we should end that.

Dr. Ben Bickman, author of “How Not to Get Sick”:
    1. Age-related sleep issues makes insulin resistance worse. I concur! People who can’t adapt, perish!
    2. The older I get, the less I sleep. I need to make some sleep adjustments and adaptations!

  5. I get good sleep. I use an oura ring to measure. The key is to give yourself plenty of time for sleep. Sounds crazy, but I give myself 10 or 11 hours in bed and get 7 or 8 hours of good sleep. Works for me.

  6. I am railroad driver who does 12s on swing shifts. Noon to midnight ans midnight to noon. I’ve been diabetic, diagnosed in 2009. I have tried everything. A friend suggested the herb gymnema, $10 on Amazon, and it mimics ozempic type shots, removes sweet flavor…i seriously cannot taste sugar or sweet fruits so they are worthless and no reward in them. Bread tastes like cardboard. That has made low carb much easier. In 3 months I’ve taken my work pants in 4 inches in the waist. There’s a long ways to go but it’s good to have the extra help in lowering blood sugar and losing fat.

  7. Lack of adequate sleep ups cortisol. That helps lay on fat and keeps blood sugar high . Any night shifter can tell that. In my line of work we do either swing shifts or on call 24/7 rotating work hours wth 12 on and 10 off and no idea when the call comes after that 10. Any time of day or night. Many of our folks are diabetic, live on caffeine and energy drinks, and little sleep. Or naps.
