  1. Dennis. Thank you, you are doing a grt job and have helped so many of us. Thank you again. Diabetes seems to be something our “medical doctors” know very little about, or wish to tell us very little about the subject??

  4. You’re spot on Dennis! You know exactly what you’re talking about. I trust your knowledge & judgement 100% .

  5. Fully agree , Dennis.
The smart doctor should elaborate the kind of fruits that could be included with breakfast such as berries.
However, the judge should always be the Glucose Meter .
    Let us always remember:
If you can’t measure it , you can’t manage it.
    Regards.

  7. I needed this today. I did low carb last year and lost 16 lbs. brought my A1C to 5.7. Back up 6 lbs again. Sometimes I wonder if low calorie eating can work the same. All those high starch plant based people who reversed their numbers. I start questioning. How does that make sense? Is it the spikes that cause weight gain even if calories are under 1200 a day?

  8. Dennis… so many people won’t listen or won’t even consume an alternative. They do it in politics, finance, and yes health. The professional is rarely the one with the best advice.

    1. The old saying don’t confuse them with facts. To which i tagged at the end, their mind is already made up.

  9. My doctor recommended I eat oatmeal for breakfast I am type 2 diabetic, I said I eat four eggs and four and a half rashers of bacon she said we’ll have to agree to disagree.
I’m in the UK, so it’s no better here.

  10. I don’t think he has been told that oatmeal is healthy.
I think he has been told that a cured patient is a lost patient.

  11. When I was first told that I was technically type 2 because of my glucose readings and a1c, I had a very long talk with my Dr about what was okay and not okay to eat. He is a very smart and nice person, but really had no real understanding of what is okay or not beside the obvious junk food. He literally referred me to a nurse who actually knew these things. People commonly think fruit juice is healthy and she explained that is basically the best option for people who are low blood sugar because that stuff will spike you quick.

I have found the best option is to use your meter and see how foods affect you. I am typically fine with a PB and banana sandwich as long as the banana is green and I use a low carb bread. I am good with tomato juice and certain fruits, but you really have to test and find what works for you.

  12. I can eat Oatmeal alone as long as I add salt… But I only eat 1/4 of a serving at a time –of Sprouted Rolled Oats or Steel Cut Oats. So it takes me 2 days to eat the full 1 serving.

  13. So how in the world did the Mayans in the year 1524 eat corn beans and squash as a staple and never have diabetes??? Processed foods or all foods in all carbs I mean it’s why is fruit a problem when the ancients ate fruits it’s unprocessed I thought that the process food gives us diabetes like your maltodextrin your MSG your seed oils your ultra processed foods that we never had back in the day especially in the early days!
