Sober 35 years. Was not a horrible drinker but joined AA, ACOA, etc.
As a musician as well as former fitness trainer, current lead singer all styles – and high school art teacher. Being sober is the best decision I’ve ever made. It positively affected EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE.
Wishing you a beautiful sober life.❤🎉❤

  • @elizabethbennet1234 says:

Tip for those who miss alcohol. Try putting sparkling water or Spindrift in a fancy champagne glass. It still feels fancy but does you no harm.

    • @chalenejohnson says:

      I love this mind hack

    • @starbrightlover says:

I do this! And I add electrolytes and bitters – it’s the BEST!

    • @jco3917 says:

I agree! Sparkling water or club soda is celebratory for me! I was a social drinker since my teen years, more recently wine with dinner every night. My last drink was last January on a cruise. I had a mimosa and afterward I thought, Yuck! Now I feel crappy! I shouldn’t have had that! I feel so much better at age 61. No regrets on going alcohol free!

  • @lolakathol4109 says:

My husband has been a drinker since high school. Mostly beer he is 66 now. I have been encouraging him to stop for years now. He finally decided to go on a no drinking challenge. For one month. It’s day 4 now. It’s a start! I believe he can do it! I will support him all the way! Thank you for this video!🙏❤️😊

    • @chalenejohnson says:

I love how much you care about this health. I have no doubt he absolutely can do this. Not the easiest journey so I’m glad he has your support through it

    • @Mellovesdeep25 says:

You should have him watch this video with you for motivation! My partner and I are trying to stop the routine drinking at home. I sent her this video so we can watch together.

  • @jillmerker439 says:

Today is day 35 and never thought I would want to do this AND continue…but I am! Filling my brain full of literature has been very helpful and learning why I drink. Putting me first is so difficult for a people pleaser…but I’m worth it and will continue working on me for me 😊 Good luck everyone and thank you Chalene 💕💕

  • @debbietaylor9241 says:

Oh Charlene – your timing is perfection! I was just thinking yesterday about giving up. I’m 64 and just feel like alcohol is not serving me well anymore. And I’m not a big drinker. I found a really quaffable alcohol free Prosecco to serve at Christmas as my kids had to drive after Christmas breakfast. Everyone was amazed that it was so good. I’m in New Zealand and there is a section at the supermarket of alcohol free wines, and gins. I can still show up at social gatherings with a bottle under my arm and no one questions it.

I love your channel. I am 39 years old and on the edge of 40. I stopped drinking 5 months ago. I was a once-in-a-while drinker dinner, and each time I started, I indulged until sunrise. It becomes a disaster every time. “Once in a while excuse ” I felt I deserved this party because I don’t do it often. I worked many years in clubs and was a performer; this environment was very surface-level as well. Today, I have a different thought about those nights. I have never been, and I will never be, the girl with one drink, quiet, and go home. When I drink, I do for the other days. The rockstar. Honestly, It does nothing good mentally, emotionally, or physically. It poisons your life and takes over your soul; the world is awakening. I choose health, I choose energy, longevity, and happiness.

  • @juliesolomonson5698 says:

❤❤❤ Thank you for using your amazing platform to bring light to alcohol! I drank wine almost every night to decompress for about a decade and like you was doing everything possible to take care of my health that I valued. I’m a science girl and it finally took Huberman’s podcast 2 years ago to get me to “cut back”. Never went back baby!!! I love watching the Lord use you to help others! God bless you beautiful lady!

  • @sharondube9207 says:

15 months alcohol free. Started as a 1 month alcohol free and decided to just continue and I feel so much better. It was hard socially at first but now I don’t care. Great sleep, better digestion, and my skin does look better. Yes and big $ savings. Drinking alcohol is literally pissing money down the drain. Spending good money to cause brain damage doesn’t make sense. Thank you for sharing.

    • @Mellovesdeep25 says:

It’s so true. We spend SO much money on basically poisoning ourselves and causing internal reactions in our body. It’s kooky when you think about it

    • @chalenejohnson says:

Exactly! So much money and doing nothing for your health

  • @dianabarlet3184 says:

Thank you so much for what you do! I had breast cancer 5 years ago. I believe alcohol had a lot to do with it. I was never out of control but I would have a glass of wine almost every evening. I stopped completely when I got my diagnosis, totally change my diet and lost 25 pounds in only 6 weeks. Thank you for reminding us of how bad it is to drink.

  • @lisaquick1196 says:

I was 5 months alcohol-free and loving it! So many benefits! Then I had some drinks at a wedding, thinking no big deal, this is just one night, a blip on the radar.
But now I’m back to my bottle of wine a day, a week later. I don’t recommend taking even one drink after committing to an alcohol-free lifestyle!
    The mind is tricky!
Now I have to get myself back into the mindset of being a non- drinker again. And after 15 years working on this, I know it’s not just a blip on the radar.
It could take a year for me to get back on track.
If you have a few months free, don’t even have a drink of champagne on a special occasion!!!! Seriously! ❤

  • @aphroditemarinake7419 says:

I lost my husband in July on his 12 year sobriety date. He passed because he had Cirrhosis of the liver stage 4.
I am so grateful he decided to become sober and joined AA because if he had not, we would have not had those “extra”12 years together. When he decided to become sober he not only changed his life but mine and our children’s as well. I am so grateful he didn’t kill himself or anyone else because he would drink and drive. He was never abusive. I guess you could say he was a happy drunk. I miss him terribly but I am forever grateful for AA and the amazing organization it is and how it helped him with his sobriety. He even became a mentor to so many. So no matter what you have to do, just do it. There is so much support available. Do it for yourself.

  • @jenwelliver1734 says:

Yesterday was my 6 mos of zero alcohol…the day after July 4th feeling was the last time I wanted to feel a lesser version of myself. So thrilled you are on this journey, been following you & your success for years.❤

  • @violettamoura says:

I’ve always been a non-drinker, never liked the taste, and have always known it’s poison. Unfortunately, society is still normalizing drinking over abstaining. However, I’m glad to see there’s more awareness about this now.

  • @tanjarott7535 says:

I absolutely love you for your willingness to be open and vulnerable with your audience. You are a true blessing. No matter what backlash you might incur, you are going to tell it like it is. Your honesty is much appreciated, and I have shared this video to people I love.

  • @mamalovesthebeach437 says:

My dad was an alcoholic and it destroyed our family. I partied pretty heartily until about age 30. My ex and I bought land and while both working full-time built a house from the ground up. We didn’t have time for downtime! I had my son and almost 41. When I found out I was pregnant I went completely alcohol free. It’s been almost 30 years alcohol free. My second husband (20 years together) never drank. I am surrounded by people who are either active alcoholics, problem, drinkers, or abstinent alcoholics. At 19 years old, I was hit by a drunk driver and almost lost my left leg. Can you imagine a world where no one is harmed or killed by drunk driver?! Thank you for everything you’re doing Shalene to educate and encourage others to go. Alcohol free. Loving you more for this!❤
