I eat dirty keto for the most part. I’ve found cycling a few complex carbs occasionally has a minimal effect on my blood sugar. My doctor told me once, think of your pancreas like a classic car. If you drive it one in a while, the chance of a problem is much lower than if you park it for 20 years and then try and drive it. Sounds legit to me.

    Great information!

What do you think about the sugar alcohols used in some foods for low carb diets, such as erythritol, allulose.

For me & my body, I can not eat net carbs. In 10 months’ time, my daily blood sugar is bouncing around. It’s mostly over 110. My a1c keeps creeping up & is now 5.9. I’ve gained 10 lbs. And my blood pressure is too high.
So I’ve concluded to go back onto my way of eating. 30 carbs a day seems to be the best medium for me.

  • @johnbassett9282 says:

I am careful with net carbs. Sometimes it works fine, other times my BS runs higher. But I know your mug muffins never raise my BS and I really enjoy them. My wife and I have them twice a week.

  • @kinpatu says:

For those advocating total carbs is what matters, can you explain the biological mechanism by which fiber raises blood glucose?

  • @Arfonfree says:

Everybody is different. I find that fiber does raise my blood glucose. Not as much and the curve is slower, but they do have an effect. Still, the other effects of fiber are so beneficial I try to incorporate it in my diet as much as possible. However, I have not investigated the effect of different kinds of fiber… got some work to do.

  • @lenr793 says:

Very informative and so well explained. Thank you.

  • @Poppy_love59 says:

There are a lot of low carb influencers who are learning that insulin isn’t our enemy. You do in fact need some insulin because it does do more than just cause fat. It is the number one growth hormone and without it, you stand almost no chance of gaining muscle mass. So I include as much as twenty carbs per day to raise my insulin just enough. And Yes I count those carbs as Net Carbs because both carbs and fiber are going to be inevitable in any sane diet!

  • @williamberliant8145 says:

I love the way you explain things. Do I do net? It depends on Mike. Example: We made chauffels for Mother’s Day, and we added golden flax seed, just to experiment. I’m wearing a CGM. Chauffels usually raise my blood sugar by 10. With flax seed added, it went up 7. Mike says golden flax seed added to food is OK for me. Take care Ben & Den.

  • @ruthhaney2946 says:

Just love your practical common sense information. Thank you so much 😊

  • @NickeyFudge says:

thanks for your videos. my last A1C WAS 6.4 but I want to go lower. I have started a low carb diet and will see my Dr. next week. I have already lost 10 lbs. and feel better.
