🥀💃🥀 Mike will always be my bestie. Per Dennis, “Mike just nails it!” 🥀💃🥀
I’ve had a couple Freestyle Libre’s that had that issue being 15 to 20 pts high.
I use mine as an indicator of trend, not as an absolute value reading.
Bingo! 🏆
Dennis, your dedication is inspiring. Every video is a great lesson. Thank you!
Some excellent medical advice: Trust, but verify! Dennis can use a test medium to check the calibration of his Mike the Meter. My first Stelo was LOUSY! Read high and erratic and pooped-out several days early. I have not used the second one yet, will over the Holy Days.
Dennis, I completely agree that when you look at your CGM reading and it is 20 points high it makes you feel a shock. They could make it to calibrate just with a software update. Probably aren’t allowed to buy the FDA.
My experience was the same after I ordered my second box and it stayed higher in the points, 20+ all the time and I had to use my meter to see what was happening being very confused and frustrated with what was going on I just removed it. I was very unhappy with the whole situation. Yes lost the thrill of having it, my number from my enter was what I was used to. Will not purchase this one again. I tried the Lingo one and it was off for the first two days or so and then it began to be very close to my meter about one point off or so. Right now I have one of each and haven’t put either one back on. Just back to my regular (Sensi) my meter. I too didn’t change my eating nor my foods, don’t know. Again the Lingo was better, I think I will put that one back on for round two and see if it does the same thing as the Stelo in comparison to the numbers being extremely high and off from my meter. Thanks for this video which let me know I wasn’t loosing my mind in the accuracy for the second go round on the Stelo. Sorry long post!
My stelo I wore for one month was right on with my meter but the second box was a little off but not that much . I think it is where we wear it. There is a lady online that wears hers on her thigh and says it reads much better . I won’t buy another one until they improve it . I am pre- diabetic
Dennis I had the same experience that you did except my first one was high almost 50 points and when trying to contact the company which is useless to do so only through a bot they did send me another one but I used the second one from the same package like you did and that one was exactly 15 to 20 higher than my Mike the meter so you are spot on again. Also I noticed that my Android phone drains faster and battery usage in the app frequently disconnects from the sensor even though I have my phone next to me continuously. There are other brands now coming out can you test them for us please thank you sir
I had problems with my Stelio. The first one worked and tracked reasonably well but it did have Bluetooth issues when my phone was very close. The second sensor initially worked, had numerous Bluetooth issues the the sensor started reported very low readings. For hours at a time below 70. My BG was averaging around 95-100 then. They sent me a replacement and it still had Bluetooth issues. This time my readings were usually 15 points or more higher. I do trust my BG meter as it matches my HBA1C. So Stelo is a neat idea but I am no longer using it.
My first 2 weeks… My stelo read 12 points below my blood meters. Kinda the opposite issue.. Inconsistency could be an issue with this Brand of monitor.
I was sooo willing to show my friends n family my stelo numbers. Nice and low! But would I be as interested in sharing this information picture….if my numbers were 15 points high? Almost 30 points different… IDK
Same experience here – it’s maddening that Dexcom doesn’t allow calibration. It’s like Ford saying “yeah we know our speedometers are off, just apply the difference duh”. I switched to Abbott Lingo and it seems much more accurate.
I’m happy with my Freestyle 2, and its $35 for a two-week sensor too. I do need an RX, but my Dr. granted me multiple refills so no problem.
I purchased one of the stelo boxes with two sensors; the first sensor was about 20 points low compared to my meter; it would vary ; and sometimes come within 2-3 points of my meter always lower; had some connectivity issues a few times, and then about 7 days into the sensor, it totally stopped working; I contacted the bots at stelo; an they sent me another one; my medical professional told me that the readings vary from sensor to sensor. I am not sure I will purchase another one, maybe the technology is just not there yet.
I guess it does have some value on trends; but for the price not sure if it is worth it
Similar experience here. First one was great, second one had issues within the first 30 minutes and the third one was running high bg readings. I still have the fourth one but am waiting a couple weeks to try again.
Excellent review, thanks. The recommended calibration is a good one. I wear libre style and does the same, sometimes accurate but most of the times isn’t.
Thank you
I hope you wrote to the company and told them how far off their gcm meter was, and how disappointing it was. Hopefully if enough people write in they will correct the problem.
In my case, the Stelo measured 30 points higher consistently compared to regular meter. The second one is measuring 35-40 points higher.
