Can you research the process called retrogradation? The idea of cooking then freezing high carb foods..rice noodles or potatoes.. and it’s effect on glucose levels? If love to know t your opinion

    • @lezafreemont1863 says:

I’ve seen other keto/low carb proponents do this… makes pretty much zero difference

    • @loridupuy3291 says:

@lezafreemont1863  I tried it with a baked potato it seemed to work for me. But I think it’s very specific to the process. Had to be frozen to 20 degrees for 24 hours

Bean soup with fufu sounds like a great meal, but maybe a little too much for a good reading from Mike.
    Cheers from Maine. 😊

I like soup sometimes i have it for variety
    One cup of cooked beans
    Carrots
    Onions
    Celery
    Some othe herbs
2 ozs of sweet potatoes and young plantains,
    Beef or chicken
    Veggies
Ill add water for 5 or 6 servings
So the carbs are spread over a many meals.
I had to learn to rethink soupand adjust the ingredients.
    Blessings Dennis and Benedicta 🙏🏿

I absolutely love beans and I also find small red beans don’t bother my blood sugar ❤❤

Magnificent work you two! 💖 Have y’all tried Palmini Hearts of Palm LINGUINE? Rinse it, heat it, eat it with stewed tomatoes or fresh tomatoes.

  • @lezafreemont1863 says:

I make chicken italian wedding soup. Chicken broth tiny meatballs, spinach and very very small little pasta called acini de pepe. So it gives you the feeling thst you are eating noodles but the amount is very little.. plus i leave the de boned chicken in the soup instead of taking it out when the broth is made. Typically the chicken is removed but leaving it is more filling. Add a salad and dinner is done.

I love bean soup! Any kind of beans. No salt. A lot of rosemary and thyme (fresh or dried). Dump in bean soup with fresh vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, garlic, onion and string beans. Sometimes I add tofu cubes. Sometimes I add orzo pasta (only 1/4 cup). I made 12 cups of bean soup for a week. And rest of bean soup in freezer.

So what’s the recipe for Dennis’s soup?

  • @juney8474 says:

What about a raw salad with the soup?

  • @zenane2012 says:

Greetings from Ethiopia. That was very teaching. Thank you, Dennis and Benedicta.

  • @sanchez4500 says:

Goodmorning Dennis, question mybe you know the answer to, I have a friend who’s a type 1 and takes insulin shots , He’s on a strick no carb diet same routine everday but sometimes not all the time in the morning 15min after the insulin he will go from 150 to 50 but this happens every so often

  • @slugo915 says:

Gm Dennis. That soup looked great, I’d try it for sure .

  • @carlking8530 says:

I wish you had tested again at the 2 1/2 hour mark. Since the beans contain so much fiber, you will get a slower spike.

  • @roxiebot7482 says:

Dennis, would it be beneficial to test again an hour after your 1st test to see if it’s a slow blood glucose rising carb??

  • @sheilamerchant2646 says:

Try Black Soy Beans they have an even lower carb count. About 9 carbs with 4 or 5 fiber.
