Good morming just wanted to thank you for the time you are speeding helping all these people. I also wanted to say how healthy and great you look. Bless you!!!❤
I had a Dr confide to me that the large medical group she worked for prohibited Drs from dispensing dietary advice to patients, saying only dieticians could . She said we could talk about how well keto works because I brought it up. Her frustration was palpable.
I have been on a keto diet and as a result my LDL went up. My doctor wanted to put me on a statin drug and I ask her to refer me to a cardiologist. I had a follow up visit with the cardiologist yesterday after completing a stress test and ecg test and he said the results were fine yet he prescribed two drugs for me to take for my cholesterol. I told him I am on a keto and he agrees that was the reason for the increased LDL yet he prescribed two drugs for me to take to bring down my cholesterol. I told him that I prefer to deal with it via diet and he said diet only works 8%. I am very disappointed with his remarks.
@Xena That’s what some doctors still think when cholesterol is high yeah, and they can get upset with patients who don’t want to comply with taking statin drugs to bring the cholesterol down.
My LDL is high but my HDL is even higher! Not worried and refused to take statins. NEVER FELT better!!! People should be more worried about there blood sugar and high triglycerides
That Doctor is not surprised because he already knew the remedy. The thing is he puts his business interest before his profession! Big pharma will be paying for him for not directing the patient in the right way!
So very true!
Some doctors still don’t seem to know though. I don’t know if they do or not…surely some do know, but I’m thinking that there are still some doctors who don’t. They only know what the blood work shows when it comes back and some keto/carnivore people’s bloodwork will come back with high cholesterol, and many doctors still think that’s bad.
Happy Friday! And Thanks Again Dennis! 😊
54 yo male. Last year blood work showed diabetes, fatty liver and high triglycerides. Prescribed statins and metaphormin. Refused drugs. Went low carb, intermittent fasting and retested three months later. Miracle! Diabetes gone. Fatty liver gone. Triglycerides normal. Doctor was not impressed?
Some people may be doctors but they are also robots. A living, thinking, feeling person would have been excited for you. Well done on your speedy recovery.
Sad he’s losing work 🤣.
My doctors are only obsessed with LDL. Never mentioned my 35 lb weight loss and reduced A1C. Push drugs (statins) and little else.
Wonderful results! Well done all! 🙂
Amazing stories of ppl beating diabetes.
We’ve found out that some doctors may not mention keto or carnivore diets, because sometimes people’s blood work comes back showing a high cholesterol level on those types of diets, and many doctors still think high cholesterol will kill you eventually. (I’ve mentioned before that my daughter’s doctor called her and yelled at her because she didn’t want to take statins.) So that could definitely be one reason doctors don’t mention it. That’s only a guess at best though.
Thanks, Dennis❤
It’s been a long 12ish years on my journey. Diagnosed at age 21 at an A1C in the 13s or 14s, don’t remember exactly. I was on a cocktail of diabetes medicines. 2000mg Metformin, 2mg Glimepiride, and 0.5mg of Ozempic. I started this year off at 330 pounds, with an A1C in the high 5s. I decided to finally “tighten my belt” and start taking my diet more seriously than I was. I was mostly eating what I eat now, meats, low carb veggies, nuts and seeds, some dairy. But I was still cheating with chips and dip and pastas. My biggest weaknesses! I even knew better, but it was SO easy to give into the temptation almost every time. I decided no more of those at all. While it’s nowhere near perfect still, I made sure to cut way down on the carbs I was eating before. Even when I “thought” I was eating better, I was still eating upwards to 200, maybe even 300g of carbs a day. Now I try to stay under 100g. Like I said, not perfect. But it’s working! I’m now down to 266 pounds, and my doctor officially took me off the ozempic and glimepiride, and reduced my metformin to only 1000mg! And my A1C has consistently been 4.9% for the past three checks! My NP also decided instead of three months, my next blood lab and follow up can be in six months! Amazing! I know I will only get better with time while I slowly try to ramp even further down on my carbs and increase my exercise goals and lose more weight. Your channel was one of my biggest motivations, I can’t thank you enough!
Good Friday morning!
Dennis you asked why a Doctor that knows about keto does not tell their patients. My Doctor is one of them and actually told me why he did not tell me about keto after I found your site and went on keto and am now nondiabetic. He told me he was afraid of being sued if I went too far with the pills and the keto and became hypoglycemic and possibly died. The strange thing is he should have given me the choice of pills OR keto not both.
Does anyone know how fiber carbs work? I tried keto bread and it says it has 17 carbs per slice but 16 of it is fiber. That’s very high fiber carbs. Will this raise blood sugar like regular bread that has little to no fiber ?
It depends. Use your meter. For some, the fiber offsets the carbs, for others it does not.
Is anyone dealing with 1.5 diabetes?
Doctors are trained to prescribe pharmaceutical drugs, that is their only obligation to a patient. The onus is on the patient to learn as much as possible about his or her disease and investigate whatever alternative remedies exist out there. I am not the least bit surprised by the behavior of that Doctor!
