Robert Herjavec’s Dad Was In Jail 22 Times. Then They Escaped.

Robert Herjavec’s father was jailed 22 times for speaking out against communism.

After one final warning, he escaped in the middle of the night, grabbed his wife and eight-year-old son, crossed the border into Italy, and left everything behind with one suitcase.

On stage at 10X GrowthCon, Grant Cardone sits down with Shark Tank investor Robert Herjavec for the incredible story behind his success. Robert reveals what his family experienced under communism in Yugoslavia, why his father refused to join the Communist Party, how they were turned away from entering the United States, and what it took to start over in Canada without money, connections, or the ability to speak the language.

The conversation also goes behind the scenes of Shark Tank, Robert’s Emmy wins, the success his parents never got to see, and the lesson most people miss:

Greatness is not created by one lucky break. It is built by connecting the little dots over ten years.

Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in one year and underestimate what they can achieve in ten. What could you change if you committed to the next ten years?

    1. As a beginner investor, to be honest, I went through a lot of losses before things started working out. What helped me most was learning to be patient, manage risk properly, and follow guidance from Clara Rosencher, a CFA professional I was introduced to a while back. It wasn’t an overnight thing, but staying consistent made a big difference.
